Pink Things Turns One: Pink Things Vol. III, New Website, Online Shop!
It’s official. Pink Things is one year old! AHHH! I’m feeling super emotional about this milestone. I remember how nearly 8 months ago, prior to Pink Things Vol. II, I wasn’t even sure if I should continue this venture, but I am so glad I did.
I spend several hours every day working on Pink Things; whether it’s answering emails, seeking out new related articles, putting together new posts for pinkthingsmag.com, or interviewing the amazing people I’ve had the pleasure to get to know digitally and feature on Pink Things. And you know what? I LOVE IT. I love it so much I can’t even put it into words, but here’s an attempt: I love sleep, but I never mind losing a couple of hours of sleep to work on Pink Things. We’re talking about a typically-need-9-hours-of-sleep-to-be-a-functioning-human-and-then-I’ll-nap-some-more love of sleep that I am willing to give up for Pink Things. It’s insane and amazing and I haven’t regretted a second if this yearlong journey so far.
What’s really emotional for me, especially today, is the huge amount of support I have received. Pink Things has over 1,500 followers on Instagram, gets over 3,000 page hits a week, and is growing every day. I receive personal DMs thanking me for giving others a platform to share their thoughts and work and it literally brings tears to my eyes every time. Most recently AJ Addae, who wrote our latest feature, reached out. I am so inspired by her! She’s 17 and an author, a go-getter, and is attending Northeastern in the fall. It’s an absolute privilege to be able to push AJ’s and other’s content to a larger audience, hopefully helping them up a rung on the ladder of life. You are all so inspiring to me, and I can’t thank you enough for the support and encouragement and submissions over the past year.
Pink Things is constantly evolving, and it’s my pleasure to announce that our third print edition, Pink Things Vol. III, breaks boundaries and rules and is the most diverse edition of Pink Things to date. It features 20 creatives of color within its 40 A4 pages curated by Anika Kowalik and Gabriela Riveros. It’s our largest copy ever, and we’re even sending it to be professionally printed, making it a beautiful object that you hopefully want to hold on to. In addition to a new mag, we have a new website! I’ve been spending a couple of hours a week for the past few weeks putting together this new website to better suit the new content Pink Things is creating (Just you wait! Some great things are in the works!). And in addition to the website, we have a live and updated online store where you can purchase all of the editions Pink Things and Nipple Products!
While listening to the Rookie Podcast this week, I got a bit of advice. “Don't shut up, even if you think no one is listening.” I’ve often felt this way, but am quickly reminded by a new follower, submission email, or just a nice comment, that what I am doing matters to people, and I’m not going to stop anytime soon. Up next: the year in review edition of Pink Things. Keep an eye out!
