When I was a little girl, I used to hate pink. It represented all things girly, all things weak and somehow less intelligent. I was raised by parents who told me I could be anything I want and as much as that was a wonderful and empowering thing, it also came with a lot of responsibility. Making a conscious choice of what and who I wanted to be made me scared. I didn't want to be a weak girl who couldn't make her own decisions, who couldn't stand up for herself. So pink was all of that and I avoided it as much as I could.

As I became older and tried to go down the picture perfect path of an empowered woman, I tried to never be weak, silly, or girly. At some point, my personal life and dreams I thought I had collapsed and I awoke in a reality where I could start over. I am proud to be weak and silly and childish now. I embrace it as it is more of who I really want to be. Pink represents that for me. Now, more than ever, I cherish this side of me.
