Phul(फूल) is a project curated by KARE Collective that represents oneness of self, while challenging South Asian stereotypes. Phul translates into “flower” in English, which represents how in the journey of life we fight to burst through the soil to reach the light and bloom.

A 21 year old freelance photographer, Kenny Reprado works in the Sacramento area providing photography services such as event coverage, press kits, and portraits to artists and local businesses. His beginnings as a street photographer inform his way of seeing inherent beauty in all aspects of life and continues to show that through his work. He hopes to convey an honest reflection of what he sees in front of him. Kenny has worked with many notable community organizers and businesses such as Sol Collective, Unseen Heroes, The WELL at Sacramento State, and The California Endowment. His work has also been featured on Submerge Magazine, Comstock Magazine, and Sacramento News & Review.

Yeshahyah Yisrael works is a poet, emcee and acitivist from Sacramento. He works to coordinate self-care efforts in the Sacramento community through workshops and community events with the Sol Life Media team, out of the Sol Collective Arts and Cultural Center. He combines golden era and modern Hip Hop sounds with traditional Indian rhythms to tell his story of a South Sacramento youth working to create change in his community. Yeshahyah joins with bandmate Diamond and bandmate/brother Duskaftrdawn to bring art that influences, inspires and stresses self advancement and self care
